Hello Reader,

My dad served in the US Army. So did my husband. And one of our sons is in the Army now. My father-in-law was an Air Force Man. And at least one of my uncles was in the Navy.

Since Veteran's Day is right around the corner, that's the topic I've chosen for this week's link list. Enjoy! And don't forget to thank a vet.

Free resources for you this week:

What I'm reading this week:

The Vanderbeekers & the Hidden Garden

My grandkids and I finished listening to Book 2 in the Vanderbeeker series this week.

We loved hearing about all the hard (but secret) work the Vanderbeeker children put into transforming an empty lot next to the church into a beautiful garden for all their neighbors to enjoy.

And all the resourceful ways they found of filling it, despite having a shoestring budget. The book was inspiring, and made all of us want to get outside, dig in the dirt, and cultivate something amazing.

On the podcast this week:

Loving Life at Home: Episode 17

THE ABCs OF HOMESCHOOLING SUCCESS

Homeschooling will look different from family to family, depending on aptitudes and personalities, number and spacing of children, teaching and learning styles, work and family responsibilities, and a whole host of other considerations.

But there are a few general principles we should all adhere to if we want our children to thrive under our instructions.

Progress on last week's goals:

I finished everything on my list last week, including: ✅ visiting the Dallas Arboretum, ✅ putting up Mom's Christmas tree (actually, my kids did that), ✅ starting our 2023 Christmas update (3 months down, 9 to go), ✅ painting my wooden stool, ✅ cutting my boys' hair, ✅ completing 4 pages in my Thanksgiving Journal.

Personal goals for this week:

  • finish Christmas shopping
  • finish Christmas letter
  • finish 4 more pages in Count Your Blessings
  • pre-record two podcasts
