Hello Reader,

Three grandsons plus my own firstborn have birthdays this week, and I'm already feeling a sugar high from all the pies and cupcakes. But I'm also planning ahead for June.

In addition to several more family birthdays the coming month will bring, there are lots of other fun holidays to celebrate in June, a few of which I'm sharing in this week's link list, along with resources to help make observing them easy. Enjoy!

What I'm reading this week:

My daughter and I are nearing the end of The Voyage of the Dawn Treader by C.S. Lewis. One of my favorite parts: When in Ramandu's country, Caspian made it clear to those who were grumbling over the prospedt of sailing to the end of the world, that nobody was under compulsion to continue.

Rather, accompanying the ship further was a privilege that would be extended only by invitation to those crew members who were deemed brave and dependable enough to be entrusted with the responsibility.

Suddenly, the very men who'd been complaining earlier changed their tune and began begging to go. The scene made me wonder how often my own grumbling would disappear if I rightly viewed my responsibilities as an honor and a privilege rather than a drudgery or duty. How about you?

This week's reader request:

A mother of 13 asked whether I could create a list of verses to help with mental discipline and taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ, a request I was delighted to fulfill. If you are working toward that same goal (as indeed, we all should be), then check out these new printables:

On the podcast this week:

Loving Life at Home: Episode 46

LET US NEVER FORGET

In honor of Memorial Day, I’m share a couple of my favorite poems in Ep. 46, to ensure we never forget the sacrifices of those who purchased our freedom with their blood.

Progress on last week's goals:

Well, we took a detour through Dallas on our way to the RPT Convention last weekend in order to attend the third playoff game between the Dallas Mavericks and the Minnesota Timberwolves, then we've had a constant stream of company at our house ever since we got back home, so āŒ I still haven't finished my passport project, and I āŒ didn't get my high school transcript notes typed up, either.

But I did āœ… attend the Republican Party of Texas Convention, āœ… crafted a few new ornaments for my patriotic tree as well as a quilted "AMERICA" pennant banner, and I even āœ… started formatting my husband's book into a 30-day challenge for men to match my 30-day Respect Challenge for wives.

Personal goals for this week:
